Résumé

Le projet API n°83 SCAR-MarBIN : SCAR Marine Biodiversity Information Network soutient la communauté scientifique en Antarctique en lui donnant un accès libre et gratuit à un recueil sans précédent de données sur la biodiversité de l'océan Austral. SCAR-MarBIN léguera un héritage pour les générations futures : un outil informatif qui fournira une référence de base afin d'établir un état des lieux de l'environnement en Antarctique, ainsi que de prédire l'avenir des communautés marines autour de l'Antarctique qui font actuellement face au changement global.

SCAR-MarBIN établit et entretient un système de bases de données réparties et interopérables, formant le "noyau" régional OBIS pour l'Antarctique (Antarctic Regional OBIS Node), sous l'égide du SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research).

SCAR-MarBIN est un projet associé au projet API n°53 CAML - Census of Antarctic Marine Life.

SCAR-MarBIN: Linking, Integrating and Disseminating Marine Biodiversity Information
This programme supports the Antarctic science community by giving free and open access to an unprecedented mass of data relevant to understand Southern Ocean biodiversity. SCAR-MarBIN will leave a valuable legacy for future generations, in the form of an information tool that will provide a baseline reference for establishing a State of Antarctic Environment, and predicting the future for marine communities around Antarctica, which are currently facing global change.

SCAR-MarBIN establishes and supports a distributed system of interoperable databases, forming the Antarctic Regional OBIS Node, under the aegis of SCAR (Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research).
